Skiing
- In the winter l' Aquila gives access to numerous ski resorts offering good downhill slopes, the most well known of which are 'Campo Imperatore' and 'Campo Felice'
- Campo Imperatore, which became a ski resort at the beginning of the 20th century, is only about a 15 minute drive from l'Aquila
- It is reachable via a cable car and connected to neighbouring resorts
- The extensive plateau offers a good selection of downhill slopes of varying difficulty, excellent off-piste skiing, ideal cross country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and much more
- The views from the plateau are stunning and on a clear day you can see as far as the Balkan coast
